Off To An Orphanage In Mexico For Christmas

Posted on Updated on

From today through January 4th, 2014 I will be gone to serve at an orphanage in Vicente Guerrero, which is about 120 miles south of Tijuana on the Baja peninsula in Mexico. My family, another member of our church, and I will be bringing donated Christmas presents, clothes, school supplies, diapers and other much-needed supplies to the orphanage. While we are there we will be helping out with whatever needs done. During our July trip there we helped by mopping floors, helping at the macadamia field, and installing playground equipment among other things. Serving there is very dear to my heart.

This is the update my wife, Jeanne, sent to our friends and family:

Hello all,

We are heading back down to Mexico for Christmas!!  We have gifts for 138 kids and a trailer loaded with donations.

We have been on the road since 5:50 a.m.  Oh the joy of LA traffic. “This definitely does not look like Pollock Pines” was the quote from John.  Currently we are approaching Santa Ana on Hwy 57 heading to the Interstate 5.  We have had a smooth journey so far but have not reached the warehouse to drop off the trailer yet.  The estimate is one more hour to get there.   We are definitely taxing our truck.  Praying for safe arrival in San Clemente to drop off the trailer.  We will see whether we will have to unload the trailer as well.  Hoping to be able to just drop it off and go….but maybe not.  I will let you know the outcome of that.   We had a nice stop for lunch in Tehachapi.  We have driven through there countless times but never stopped.  It is challenging finding a parking spot for the truck and trailer.  We now know a good spot…for future trips.  The Lord blessed us with an amazing sunset tonight.  Beautiful color in the clouds.

We plan to have dinner in San Diego with Tanya’s brother and then to Chula Vista to the hotel.  We unload all of the suitcases and then hit the hay.  Please pray for our border crossing tomorrow between 9:00 and 10:00.  Hoping that we have no difficulties with getting all of the gifts over the border.

Thanks for the prayers for safe travels.
